One of the most gorgeous things to photograph is an Intimate Oregon Coast Elopement. I don’t think I could have imagined this one if I tried. Sarah and Cole decided to put this shoot together and I was beyond excited because of how energetic Sarah is and because she is one of my friends and amazing photographer. You can see her work over here.
Her and Cole are a power couple for sure. I haven’t seen this kind of energy or chemistry behind two people in a long time. Like Calvin Klein advertisement passion. She is hilarious and because she is a photographer, she knows how to pose because she knows what she likes to see. Just. So. Amazing to work with.
As a photographer, there are a lot of things that you hope for when you shoot. Most of the time, it is a couple in love, and you also wish for an epic location. This shoot definitely delivered both. Her and Cole went scouting for locations and I was so grateful because I have lived in Oregon my entire life and have never been to Cape Kiwanda. It is insanely gorgeous and reminds me of the cliffs on the California coast.
Sarah brought her daughter along too and I was so happy to see that. As a mom, I know how hard it is to get photos with your kids, and so it was really nice to do that for her. Her daughter was so adorable, especially with the dress she had on. I told Herbie that he better be making the big bucks if we have a little girl because we are spending it all on all the cute clothes at Target.
Some things that I have learned along the way about a styled shoot is that there is a lot of work that goes into it. Volunteer to help whoever put it together and help them pack up. They put a lot of effort and time (and money) into it, so its the least you can do. When you do a styled shoot with photographers you don’t know, maybe offer to take photos far away and up close in groups so everyone can get the variety of shots that they really want. It is also important to tag all the vendors and list them on social media so that people can refer to them if they want to know who was there. This is all just good etiquette and really makes people want to work with you again.
I think this summer has been the summer of growth and I’m grateful to Sarah and Cole for putting this together. I met so many wonderful photographers that I now consider my friends, and I was able to create some beautiful images from this styled Intimate Oregon Coast Elopement.
I hope you enjoy it too!
